Unwind, relax and recharge your batteries – a bath is the ultimate place of well-being. Whether you are planning a new bathroom or renovating an old one, there is the space question: is the room large enough for a bath? And which model works best? There are a host of options to take into consideration during the planning process, depending on the layout of your bathroom, taste and preferences.

Built-in baths – genuine all-rounders

Built-in bathtubs are a beautiful, practical and favourable solution that suit practically any floor plan. They can either be placed in front of a wall or in a corner and can be clad or tiled to your taste to blend into the atmosphere of the bathroom. Free-standing baths – exceptional centrepieces

If a bathroom is large enough, a free-standing bath makes the perfect centrepiece. The bath acts as a striking design element, creating an exclusive look in a modern bathroom. Models that simply stand on the floor add pure understatement to the interior design, whereas footed versions give the bathroom a luxurious vintage attitude. Free-standing baths not only look very elegant, but also come with impressive functions and flexibility. They can be placed anywhere: in front of a sunny window, with a view over the garden or in the middle of the room. But you have to keep in mind that a free-standing bath is usually installed with a standpipe, so you will need to include the water inlet – and outlet – when planning your bathroom.

Back-to-wall baths – Saving space, not on style

Back-to-wall baths, i.e. baths placed against a wall, look (almost) like a free-standing bath with their panel, which comes in many different colours. However, this easy-to-clean version is by contrast fixed flush to a wall. What makes this type of bath extremely practical is the vast amount of space on the underside and back for installing the piping, which allows the bath to be positioned anywhere against a wall. Back-to-wall baths do not take up a lot of space, which makes them stylish solutions for smaller bathrooms.
