Opposites attract – on the table too

Round versus square, light versus dark, rough versus smooth – contrast is one of the main principles of art as it draws attention while creating tension. Taking advantage of these effects in the home makes the furnishing look vivid, exciting and individual. Contrasting colours catch the eye: the interaction between light and dark colours leaves a strong impression. Angular shapes bring clarity and emphasise spatial boundaries. Combining clear lines with round shapes adds a soft and gentle touch to the home. Tactile opposites enhance visual contrasts and liven up the interior design.

Contrasts on the table

Villeroy & Boch makes it easy to bring contrasts to the table: the new NewMoon collection leaves a lasting impression with its asymmetrical crescent-like design on glossy glazed Premium Porcelain when combined with the matt black products from Manufacture Rock. Tactile differences highlight this effect: NewMoon boasts a smooth surface, whereas Manufacture Rock’s fine surface relief provides a new sensory sensation. If the table setting is not to be based on haptic charm, but visual contrasts, then a combination of Manufacture Rock in black and Manufacture Rock blanc in white is the ideal choice. The new square and rectangular plates and platters are a further feast for the eyes. Manufacture Collier provides matching vases and bowls in different sizes: featuring a matt surface structure, they accentuate the black & white look, but also create a bold contrast with the glossy NewMoon porcelain.

Glossy contrasts

Manufacture Rock Glow sets elegant highlights. This new décor is a contrast in itself – the rims and outer surfaces have a slate look, while the interior shines in a striking copper shade. Mixed & matched with Manufacture Rock in black or white, the understated yet expressive crockery provides an elegant contrast. The red shimmering metal of the Manufacture cutlery creates an exciting contrast to the understated colours of the porcelain, as do the unique shapes of the NewMoon cutlery.
