Bathroom trends 2025: The bathroom as a retreat in troubled times

The world is changing. Together with the renowned transformation agency STURMundDRANG, the bathroom specialist Villeroy & Boch has examined the latest social developments and design influences and translated them into bathroom design trends. “In times of increasing political and economic uncertainty, people are seeking a place where they can simply be themselves - whether they want to boost physical and mental wellbeing, take time out from everyday stresses or explore their own creativity,” commented Europa Bendig, Managing Director and Founder of STURMundDRANG. The value we place on our own home is therefore increasing, as both a safe haven and an expression of our personality.

But what does this mean for the bathroom at home? Villeroy & Boch offers four trendy worlds for the bathroom of everyone's dreams.

Back to nature: Natural Simplicity

In particular in turbulent times, we long for the peace and harmony of nature and often seek to replicate this in our home. The key components are: soft shapes, mellow colours – and anything that soothes body and mind. Balanced organic shapes, for example, from the Antao range, combined with matt ceramic colours such as Almond, Stone White or Morning Green, are a perfect choice for this look. Furniture made from native woods such as oak and walnut creates a sense of warmth and cosiness in the bathroom and a direct connection to nature. However, mindset matters more than individual style elements: careful use of resources is an essential re-quirement for Natural Simplicity. Taps with the efficient AquaSmart water-saving function or the innovative TwistFlush flushing technology offer ideal solutions.

Traditional values: Classic Elegance

In a constantly changing world, traditional values offer stability and security. Classic Elegance is therefore guided by overarching style principles such as fine materials, classic colours and balanced symmetries. Traditional white is the colour of choice for ceramic. Shades such as classic blue, opulent materials such as marble and luxurious taps in Brushed Gold are ideal as stylish accents. A touch of vintage charm is permitted – and will make the style more individual.

For feel-good vibes: Playful Individuality

Young people in particular have a real zest for life following the pandemic and are keen to find new ways to express their personality. Individualists devise their own style – with eye-catching effects. Almost no other trend is quite so bold when it comes to use of colour and eclectic effects. Playful Individuality is a simple concept with no fixed rules. Inspiration can come from many sources: provided there is a feel-good factor. This relaxed approach makes the trend perfect for young, active families, globetrotters and anyone who wants to enjoy lots of feel-good vibes in their bathroom. Ideal with: collections such as Loop & Friends, Artis or Collaro, which open up lots of options for experimentation with their wide selection of colours and shapes.

Focusing on the essentials: Urban Minimalism

In a complex world, the home should be a place of simplicity and clarity. Minimalism is therefore more of a mindset than a trend. The key to this look is elimination of superfluous touches and a focus on clever, timeless solutions. Shapes with clearly defined lines and edges, for example Memento 2.0 in TitanCeram, are a perfect choice. Black will add an urban touch to a minimalist design style. From a monochrome all-black look to accents with matt black taps, the choice is yours.
