“A Night at the Museum” with Villeroy & Boch – Custom project solutions at the Krønasår themed hotel

Krønasår – The Museum-Hotel: welcome to the new themed hotel at Europa-Park in Rust. The amusement park located between Strasbourg in France and Freiburg in Germany has already won several Golden Ticket Awards as Best Amusement Park in the World. And now it’s one attraction richer: a themed world based on the legendary lost Nordic island of Rulantica with its own hotel. Being a complete product provider, Villeroy & Boch supplied the sanitary ware as well as custom-designed tableware for the restaurant and bar facilities.

Europa-Park: a superlative location

Europa-Park, boasting 83 restaurants, cafés, takeaways and bars, has the most profitable catering company in Germany and its six hotels and 5,800 beds make it the largest German hotel resort in one location. The 4-star superior Hotel Krønasår has 276 rooms and 28 suites with rooms up to 92 m². The hotel's restaurants and cafés seat about 1,500 people. Moreover, two function rooms can accommodate up to 260 guests.

A museum feel

Hotel Krønasår feels like a proper museum thanks to interior design details such as natural history exhibits, display cabinets with discovered objects and ceiling-high book shelves. The creative highlight is a gigantic sea serpent whose skeleton winds through the staircase all the way up to the 6th floor. The themed world continues in the rooms and suites.

The bathrooms in the rooms and suites have been fitted out with Villeroy & Boch products. Villeroy & Boch supplied more than 1,000 pieces of sanitary ware: over 400 Loop & Friends built-in washbasins, 30 Loop & Friends baths, more than 300 Memento hand-rinse washbasins and 370 wall-mounted toilets from the Architectura range. The selected products enable different bathroom designs: the rectangular and oval built-in washbasins are a perfect match for washing areas with a wood or stone look and allow for single as well as double basin solutions. The rectangular Memento hand-rinse washbasins provide practical ceramic storage despite their small size.

The hotel’s food and drink areas seat about 1,500 people and can cater for all tastes: the restaurant “Bubba Svens” designed in the style of an old boathouse, the fine dining restaurant “Tre Krønen” with Nordic cuisine as well as “Bar Erikssøn” and “Café Konditori”. Moreover, two function rooms can accommodate up to 260 guests. Diners can enjoy a stylish table setting in “Tre Krønen” and “Café Konditori” provided by Villeroy & Boch's high-quality Premium Bone Porcelain. The Villeroy & Boch Hospitality Division created a custom décor that graces the La Scala and Stella tableware ranges specifically for Hotel Krønasår.

Visitors to the impressive themed world can also take home a souvenir: a specially decorated cup from the Villeroy & Boch NewWave collection can be bought from the souvenir shop at the hotel.
