2022 bathroom trends: Turning the bathroom into a favourite place

The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in any home. It is where we prepare for the day ahead, reconnect with ourselves in our fast-paced lives, and spend precious moments alone and as a family. What better reason to make our bathroom something very special: a favourite place where time seems to stand still. In a style that will not easily go out of fashion. How can you achieve this? With high-quality materials, clever functionalities and a timelessly beautiful design.

Quality for the senses

The bathroom is not a place for passing fads. After all, our chosen design needs to last for an average of 20 years – and ideally bring us pleasure every day. High-quality products made from natural raw materials such as ceramic are the per-fect foundation. Ceramic is hard to rival when it comes to nat-uralness, durability and stability, and it radiates a real well-being atmosphere for all the senses. Ceramic can be used to create flowing contours, precisely defined edges or even or-ganic shapes. It looks equally good in a shiny gloss or a velve-ty matt finish. It also feels pleasant to the touch. High-quality ceramic surfaces transform daily routines into sensual experi-ences.

Earthy colours, natural wood look

Colours don’t have a great reputation for longevity. But colour expert Gesa Hansen disagrees. For the Artis vanity washbasin collection, the German-Danish designer deliberately opted for muted, earthy shades inspired by nature. “Combining colours is easier than you think. Mother Nature shows us how it’s done: just look at a meadow of flowers to see the beautiful vibrant mix of different and supposedly contrasting colours,” she explains. Perfect in combination with the new Artis shades: Finion vanity units in natural tones such as Olive or Sand or with an elegant veneer. Natural tones and wood ef-fects are also the defining features of the Subway 3.0 bath-room furniture range.

Planning for tomorrow today

If you want to your bathroom design to last for a long time, it’s important to consider use of resources at the planning stage. The new TwistFlush flush technology reduces water consumption for a family of four by around 19,700 litres a year*.

The secret: the flush works so powerfully in the conical bowl that one flush is almost always enough and the toilet brush is practically superfluous.

Another equally important consideration in long-term bath-room planning is usability for different generations. Flush-fitting shower trays such as Squaro Infinity or Subway Infinity look good and can be used comfortably by everyone. A time-less design, such as that of the Subway 3.0 collection, makes a bathroom fit for the future. As well as being robust enough to stand the test of time, a bathroom also needs enduring appeal.

*4-person household, compared to a standard 6-litre flush. Average use: 5 x per day/per person, based on data from the Umweltbundesamt Deutschland (German Environment Agency).
