Saareck Castle in Mettlach attracts guests from all over the world
The charming, individually furnished rooms at Saareck Castle, the exclusive Villeroy & Boch guesthouse, can as of now be booked online on Booking.com, the world leader in hotel booking sites. Located in idyllic Mettlach, in the border triangle of Germany-France-Luxembourg, the castle has been added to the portfolio of the online portal, which has more than one million accommodations in over 225 countries and regions, and features as one of the top addresses in Saarland.
Saareck Castle invites guests and visitors to this scenic region to experience the unique ambience and be entertained in style in the heart of an idyllic English park. The house has kept its castle character not only on the outside, but on the inside, too. The rooms on the ground floor have been retained in their original state: small salons, the hall decorated with paintings and hunting trophies, the fireside lounge with a Steinway grand piano and the large dining hall with wooden panelled walls, refined furniture, wooden flooring and family portraits create a unique atmosphere à la Belle Époque. The charming, individually furnished rooms come with modern features such as WiFi and a flatscreen TV. A wonderful highlight is the sunny terrace, which adjoins the extensive country park, filled with centuries-old trees, and has a fantastic view of the Old Abbey on the banks of the River Saar.
Gourmets will also find plenty to savour at the castle. Food is impressively served on high-quality Villeroy & Boch tableware: the La Classica Nuova and La Classica Contura ranges made of finest Premium Bone Porcelain provide the perfect stage for these culinary creations.
Extra tip: Saareck Castle is also a popular event location, providing a unique setting for events, conferences and seminars as well as for glamorous family celebrations, weddings and anniversaries. Anyone who would like to celebrate here should book as early as possible. The guesthouse can accommodate exclusive events for up to 200 people. What’s more, Saareck Castle is also highly interesting because the Old Abbey, which houses the Villeroy & Boch Discovery Centre with Keravision and the Museum of Ceramics, the Tableware Exhibition and Bathroom, Wellness and Tiles Information Centre, as well as the outlet centre in Mettlach's pedestrian zone are only a few minutes walk away.
From a residence to an exclusive guesthouse
Villeroy & Boch has also used Saareck Castle as a guesthouse since 1954 in order to stylishly cater to its ever growing numbers of visitors, including many international guests. The guesthouse was originally built as a castle according to designs by the architect Ludwig Arntz from Cologne between 1902 and 1903 for the newlywed couple Adeline von Boch, née Freiin von Liebig from Reichenberg/Liberec, Bohemia and Luitwin von Boch, who was the General Director of Villeroy & Boch from 1917 to 1932. In 1912, the former residence of the von Boch family was extended according to plans by architect Eugen Schmohl.
