A new take on floor-level showers – Wallway moves the waste outlet into the wall

Fully integrated floor-level shower areas impress with high-quality design combined with a range of practical benefits: great sensation of space, comfortable, barrier-free access with no trip hazards, and quick and easy cleaning. Villeroy & Boch’s new Wallway Quaryl shower area is taking the concept to the next level by eliminating the conventional waste outlet on the floor and concealing it behind a design cover on the wall. This avoids breaking up the seamless shower surface with a floor-fitted waste outlet while further optimising both hygiene and ease of cleaning.

Striking design and maximum safety

Wallway is an ultra-flat, seamless shower surface with a floor foundation height of just 30 mm in a streamlined, minimalist design that conveys an atmosphere of simple elegance in bathrooms. It is available in the two matt colours of Stone White and Anthracite. Ideally concealing the odour seal and hair sieve while still allowing easy access, the design cover completes the harmonious effect. The cover is available in the finishes of Matt Chrome, Stone White and Anthracite, providing scope for individual highlights coordinating with the wall, floor and taps. Wallway shower areas are made from Quaryl®, a material consisting of a blend of 60% natural quartz and high-quality sanitary acrylic, and meet the requirements of the highest anti-slip class C. They therefore guarantee safety when entering and using the shower.

Sophisticated technology and easy installation

The Wallway shower area has an integrated incline on one side to drain shower water away quickly and safely. Rather than flowing over joints, the water is channelled from the shower surface directly into the wall waste outlet. A narrow drainage rim with a seal in the wall channels water from the sides into the waste outlet. At 48 l/min, the drainage rate is significantly above the standard – coping easily with even large volumes of water such as from a rain shower.

Wallway is available in a total of eleven formats. The selection includes three square and eight rectangular sizes ranging from 90 x 90 cm to 160 x 90 cm to ensure the perfect model for each space and installation scenario.

The Wallway shower surface is installed flush with no metal frame, simply like a tile Correct installation is carried out together with the separately available ViConnect wall drain unit, which is available for dry and wet construction. Important: a wall depth of at least 135 cm is required for the waste outlet. Advantage of the system: ViConnect for Wallway can be combined with shower elements for surface-mounted or concealed taps, or provide the foundation for an optional seat which can then be tiled.

Exceptional flexibility and outstanding concept

The successful product concept combining aesthetics and functionality also impressed the expert jury of this year’s Universal Design Competition: who selected Wallway for the Universal Design Expert Award 2022. This prestigious competition assesses products on the basis of criteria including wide and flexible use, user-friendliness, safety, innovation and sustainability.

The system is also ideal for use in hygienically sensitive areas thanks to its wall-mounted waste outlet according to the recommendations of the RKI. Aerosols generated around the wall-mounted waste outlet can also be extracted by a specially designed nozzle in the ViConnect element.
